One waterfall in the state of Rio de Janeiro that surprises us with its beauty and ease of access is the Véu de Noiva Waterfall in Mangaratiba. For those driving from the capital Rio de Janeiro towards the municipalities of the Costa Verde, such as Mangaratiba, Angra dos Reis, and Paraty, via the BR 101 highway, this waterfall is very close to the highway on the side for those coming from the Rio ➡️ Mangaratiba direction.
For those driving from Rio to these cities, it will be very easy to stop along the way, enjoy this waterfall, and continue the journey. It is located in the Muriqui district of Mangaratiba, and is one of the main attractions of this region of the Costa Verde.

The waterfall has a steep drop, filled with natural pools of crystal-clear water in a region surrounded by Atlantic rainforest and a few kilometers from the sea. If you enjoy filming, photography, or simply exploring the natural beauty of the state of Rio de Janeiro, the Bridal Veil waterfall is an easy and worthwhile stop on the BR 101 highway.
Generally, waterfalls with the highest and most voluminous drops are located in more remote areas, requiring long hikes to reach them. Interestingly, the Véu de Noiva waterfall in Muriqui can be considered easily accessible, being one of the main tourist attractions in Mangaratiba, especially for those who enjoy hiking, waterfalls, and adventure tourism.
How to Get to Véu de Noiva Waterfall
If you are on Highway BR-101 heading from Rio de Janeiro to Angra dos Reis, the parking lot where you can park your car will be on your right, exactly on the same side you are driving from, in the Muriqui district of Mangaratiba.
Near the parking lot there’s a neighborhood with some shops and residents; you can ask them for more information, and from this point you’ll already be able to hear the river. It’s very easy to find this parking lot on Google Maps. Check the map below:
For lovers of adventure tourism, trails, waterfalls and rivers, natural paradises like this are truly special destinations.
